Introducing Eva

Eva was a grade four student when the ‘I Own It’ Campaign came to her school.

Around the time of the campaign, Eva received a diagnosis of having ADHD. Her first thought was that something was wrong with her like her brain wasn't smart enough.  Her parents and doctor tried to help by providing books and examples of famous people with ADHD, but nothing worked.  However, when her teacher introduced the ‘I Own It’ Campaign, something changed within her.  Initially, she chose her love of animals but quickly changed it to owning her ADHD.  When she told her teacher about her decision, Eva realized that her choice was different from others.  Her teacher gave her the biggest high five and cheer ever!

It didn’t stop there.  When Eva’s picture was displayed among others in a prominent location in the school, a higher level of awareness ensued for herself and others.  One day, she happened to be walking by the ‘I Own It’ bulletin board and overheard two other students admiring her picture and sharing that they have ADHD too. Ava stopped to chat with them and, together, they decided to support each other.
